What’s New! bag bingo2019

Dear OLPH Families,

This time of year provides the perfect opportunity to teach even our youngest children about the significance of Veterans Day. A veteran is a former member of the armed forces or military. The branches of the military include the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corp and Coast Guard. Veterans are those who have served in times of war or times of peace. Veterans Day is a US federal holiday that honors all veterans and gives us the opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifices to protect our freedom. This holiday is always celebrated on the same day each year, November 11, because it was originally known as “Armistice Day”. Perhaps a member of your family is currently serving in the military, or maybe a relative is retired from the armed forces. Our own Nurse Becki’s husband is currently deployed and we thank him for his service. We keep the Nickersons in our prayers and look forward to his return home to his family. Most of us know more than one person who has served or is currently serving. We need to always appreciate their gift to our country.

This Monday, our school will be participating in the VFW Veterans Day memorial service. The children will be present to sing God Bless America at the VFW memorial during the 11:00 AM service. We are honored that our students may participate in such an important event.

We thank you for your continued prayers for our children and support of our school.

God Bless,

Cindy Smith
