What is Family Catechesis? We all know what the word family means even if it may look different due to different circumstances. This brings us to the second part of the term “Catechesis”. What does it mean? “Catechesis means to reecho what Christ has taught. Catechesis, therefore, is the handing on of Jesus’ teaching which was given to the apostles (the Deposit of Faith) and transmitted through Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition.” So in a sense Family Catechesis is doing catechesis in the context of the family. In this model we see the restoration of the role of parents as the primary catechists and the parish to its role as the support system of the parents to fulfill their role to their best. Why Are We Doing It?
Do Parents come?YES, but only on the 3rd Wednesday Session for 1st-6th Graders. Besides the children, parents are the most important part of the whole program. Parents will have a session together in Nolan Hall while the children are in a lesson in the School. Then children will join the parents for a family activity.
