Ahhh… The lazy, hazy days of summer are upon us. Thoughts turn to beach days and pool time. This is a time of year where we tend to take time off for rest and relaxation. Some people travel, while others just spend more quality time in their gardens.
Here, in the life of the parish, the work towards preparing our parish campus for the future continues! We are moving closer to saying farewell to the convent that has served our parish well in the past, but no longer provides for our parish needs.
Thanks to donations from some of our parishioners, the stained-glass windows have been removed and will be entrusted into the hands of these families for preservation and repurposing in their family homes. A few windows remain available for families who are interested and able to donate to cover the cost of their removal.
The landscaping around the convent is also being shared with our parish families. While we intend to relocate the Azalea and Rose Bushes and some Black Eyed Susans on the campus, there are many hostas and shrubs available for any parishioner that desires to transplant them.
If you are interested in preserving some of the stained glass as part of your family legacy, or transplanting some of our landscaping at your home, please contact me in the parish office.
While every step towards demolition of the convent is nostalgic, it is with great hope in the future of our parish that we can evolve into a campus that better serves our needs for the future.
May Our Lady of Perpetual Help watch over you and yours.
