My Dear Parish,

For over one hundred years OLPH has ministered to the people of Maple Shade and beyond. My role here, first as administrator and then as pastor began in July of 2018. Things were quite different. Over the past eight years, we have grown through many challenges, seeking to build up the Body of Christ in our corner of the world. These eight years have been for me full of meaning, friendship, and a common purpose.

Today, I am sharing the news that effective September 1, 2026, I shall begin serving as the Pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Freehold, NJ. I am excited and nervous about this change but welcome the opportunity to say once again “Yes!” in the service of our Lord. These years at OLPH have meant very much to me and I am incredibly grateful to have been sent here by Bishop O’Connell to be your spiritual leader; I look forward to serving the people of St. Rose as their pastor.

Rev. Fernando Monsalve, a distinguished priest of our Diocese will be returning from his Chaplaincy in the Air Force to begin his pastorate here. Fr. Fernando brings a wealth of experience. Ordained in 2011, he has served as pastor of the parishes in Atlantic Highlands, as well as parochial vicar before seeking to serve in the armed forces. I am confident you will embrace him as you embraced me, and he will lead and guide you well in continuing our mission.

I would invite you to pray for us both, and for all the priests who are beginning new assignments in the months to come. May God bless you!

In Christ,

Fr. Joel
